We must dare to talk about death — an evening of sorrow, memories, and the loss of one or more loved ones

Death and the grief of losing one or more loved ones hits us all at some point in life. We can start a conversation.

We have to dare to talk about it. Be there for each other. And we don't always have to have the right words -- sometimes listening can be the most important thing.

An Evening With Room for the Sorrow

We begin the evening together with the chefs who have made the food and who have lost their father themselves. They will share a bit of their story with us before we begin the communal dining.

During dinner there will be conversation cards from Shadow Children around the tables for conversations about grief, memories, loss, everyday life and life after a loss.

After the meal, tell Shadow Children and Life&Death and about why it's important to create spaces to talk about death and grief, and the very purpose of the evening.

Next, we will work on letter writing in a workshop facilitated by two sisters who have lost their mother themselves.

... Maybe there's something you never got to say.

... Something you miss telling.

... Or some words that just need a place to be.

We will end the evening together and follow up on the thoughts and feelings that the workshop has set in motion.

We create the evening together. There is room for you, your thoughts and what you bring.

What are shadow children?

Shadow children are grief groups for children and adolescents from 4—28 years of age who have lost a parent, sibling or other close relative.

In the groups, one can share one's thoughts, feelings and everyday life with the grief. Meeting others who have also lost someone they care about and experience that you are not alone. It can be significant to be able to reflect on others who have experienced something similar and are the same age
