Textile workshop by Magda Buczek

  • 3 hours

Over three workshops, artist Magda Buczek invites us to meet around fabric, textiles, conversations and community.

The workshops are based on her own memories of sitting with her grandmother and her friends, where the needlework created a natural space for stories, experiences and presence. When the hands are busy sewing, cutting or arranging fabric, it often becomes easier to talk together, listen to each other and share experiences. This is exactly the mood Magda wants to bring forward in this process.

Together we create a common textile work through collage, layer upon layer of fabric, patterns, colors and materials. There is no right or wrong way to participate, and you do not need either experience in textile work or special creative abilities. Recycling and sustainability are an important part of the project, which is why throughout July and August you can hand over fabric scraps, old clothes and other textiles to fabula so that they can be given new life as part of the shared artwork.
You are also welcome to bring your own materials from home.

You can attend once or participate in all three workshops — it's up to you. The workshops are open to everyone from the age of 7 and up, regardless of background, language or experience. Along the way, snacks and drinks are served, and we create a safe and informal space where you can come as you are and be part of a joint project.

The workshops conclude with an exhibition in Fabula of the common textile work — an imprint of the people, stories, languages and materials that have been part of the process.
