Sanyu — soul, spoken word and jazz without a fixed framework

Warm harmonies, insistent grooves and words that will be heard. fabula invites you to an evening with Sanyu, who moves freely between soul, jazz, rap and spoken word.

With roots in R&B and improvisation, Sanyu creates music that both provides space for contemplation and sets the body in motion. The voice and lyrics are central to an expression where soulful melodies meet rhythmic edge and where music need not stay within one genre.

On her debut album Circumspect, she unfolds her musical universe after the EPNow You Hear It, which the music medium Beehype chose as her Norwegian favorite for their list of the best albums of 2024. Her work with the words has also attracted attention: In 2025 she received the Lyspunkt Prize from the Norwegian Lyspriters' Fund and later NOPA's text award for the poem*You Don't Hear It (Do You?) *.

This evening you can experience her up close in fabula. Come with open ears to a concert where there is room for both the pensive, the playful and the felt before it can be explained.
