How to unite
fabula invites Dana Alshihaby to a conversation concert where Arabic tonalities meet Western jazz, and the music becomes the basis for a conversation about what happens in the encounter between culture, language and musical traditions. Dana Alshihaby unites soulful Arabic music traditions with modern expressions.
With roots in classical singing education from Syria and Denmark, she explores Arabic quarter tones and rhythms in the encounter with Western jazz. She has created a soundscape that moves between the intimate and the grand. She has performed on stages from Roskilde Festival to Folkemødet and most recently told about her musical journey in K-Live. This evening she is accompanied by oud player Bilal Irshed and double bassist Rasmus Møldrup.
Join us for a very special evening where Dana Alshihaby's musical universe will be unfolded with reflections and new layers. The evening is part of a series of conversation concerts, where there is room for both music and the narratives, processes and thoughts that hide behind the songs.
The event is supported by the City of Copenhagen and the Danish Arts Foundation.
